LilLili2406 1 post Jul 05, 2004 8:50 PM	I bought a car with the Kenwood eXelon KDC-X811 it as well, but in the car had the manual to the reciever and the code written inside. sjmaerz 1 post Aug 04, 2004 12:48 PM	You can not get the security code for a Kenwood KDC-X811 receiver from Kenwood, with or without the serial number, because the security code is not set at the factory. The X811 comes without a security code set. If the buyer opts to set a code they may do so, but the buyer chooses the code so there is no default setting. You will have to get the code from the previous owner. According to the owners manual, there does not appear to by a bypass, once a code is set, it can't be undone, you will always need a code to power up. I still have one in my truck but I never set the code because I did not want to be in your shoes. Good luck.

I have the KDC sumthin, it has a volume knob and a knob like joystick at the other end to skip songs and so fourth. Here it what I did. in the bottom left corner hold the button "ame/auto" and hold right on the joystick. after a few seconds the four underscores beside CODE will go away, now grab the remote and type "KCAR" with the number buttons pushing left after each letter. when done hit left and it will say APPROVED and reset the deck. hope that helps, dont ask where i got the info it wasnt easy.

It appears all you need from the previous posts is the right combination of buttons to be able to enter the KCAR into the unit. I tried the 2 ideas listed, but this unit must be different.
